Summary

This promotion is identical to a promotion offered last month; and Cartera Commerce, Incorporated is the company which operates the MileagePlus Shopping portal — as well as powers many of the shopping mall Internet web sites for airlines in addition to that of United Airlines — but the company has not had a perfect record with satisfaction amongst its customers.

Chances are that you will not experience problems with this promotion — but be prepared to expect a less than flawless experience, just in case.

Still, I have sporadically used the shopping portals of at least two different airlines plus one lodging company; and I have had no problems earning the proper amount of frequent flier loyalty program miles. Be aware that the adding of those miles can take as many as ten weeks — as was the case with the lodging company — but if that happens after the expiration date of the miles in your account, take consolation of knowing that the date of the transaction is what counts and not when the transaction is approved. I have had to send a reminder to the lodging company for them to reinstate points which had expired greater than two months prior to finally being credited the points earned from shopping — and they did.

If you intend to spend $250.00 anyway this week, you may as well earn 1,000 bonus award MileagePlus frequent flier loyalty miles in the process, which should extend the expiration date of the MileagePlus miles already in your account by another 18 months.
