Hanging Out With the Elephants at the Watering Hole: A Photographic Chronology

young elephant appears to be mimicking its parent at a watering hole; and it would seem that by observing the elephants drinking at the watering hole that their trunks are not very efficient with all of the water that was returned to the watering hole — but there are reasons for everything in nature; and my eye is an untrained one.

Either that; or one really sloppy elephant was found.

I will just let the photographs of the elephants at the watering hole speak for themselves. The following photographs were taken in rapid succession — almost as though they were frames of a video — presented here in chronological order. This was just one of many experiences I enjoyed while on safari in Kenya. If you missed it, please be sure to see this photographic essay of a cheetah who suddenly and successfully hunted for its prey; as well as this photographic essay of a lion with one eye and a lioness

…and I intend to post additional photographic essays of what I saw while on safari in future articles here at The Gate. Please stay tuned…

This brings back such wonderful memories of my safaris to Kenya and South Africa. The elephants are a joy to watch. They are clearly a community that cares for each other.
