Hilton HHonors Visa Promotion 2016: Answers to Questions From Readers
I just completed a telephone call with a key member of the Hilton HHonors team who imparted some important information pertaining to the Hilton HHonors Visa Promotion 2016, of which initial details were announced yesterday in this article; but readers of The Gate had some pertinent questions — most of which I have the answers.
Does the Visa Promotion Apply to Existing Reservations?
“Awesome promo!” exclaimed Diego. “Any idea if this exists for existing app/visa bookings prior to registering?”
I have some great news for you, Diego: all you need to do is register for the promotion — and the promotion can be applied retroactively for stays within the promotion period, which started on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Your current reservation is one which cannot be canceled or refunded and was booked before the announcement of this promotion for an upcoming stay — and it will qualify if you simply register for the promotion.
Can You Earn 5,000 Hilton HHonors Points More Than Once?
“Can you earn it more than once?” asked Al.
When I was told that you can earn the bonus of 5,000 Hilton HHonors points for every stay when following the requirements and conditions of the promotion, I was very pleasantly surprised — and hopefully, you are pleasantly surprised as well, Al.
Are Points and Cash Stays Eligible For This Promotion?
“Points and cash stays count as eligible?” was the question asked by Claudiu.
Yes, they are eligible, Claudiu.
Which Rates Qualify For This Promotion?
The one answer of which I could not get a definitive answer at this time was pertaining to which rates apply to this promotion, as asked by Al: “It is not clear what rates will qualify for this promotion. It says it cannot be combined with other discounts. will AAA discount rates qualify? What about corporate rates such as MVP and Gold Medal?” I was told that an answer will be forthcoming in the next day or so; but because of the upcoming weekend, I will likely have an answer to your question by next week at the latest.
Ever since I met with key members of the Hilton HHonors team almost a year ago, they have been delivering on the claim that they intend to ensure that the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program is more rewarding to members; and that seems to counter the current trend in general of tightening up on the components of rewarding loyalty.
Of course, we need to always keep in mind that Hilton Worldwide is a business; and as with any company, profits are understandably important. My current impression is that the people at Hilton are doing what they can to ensure that there is a mutually beneficial “sweet spot” where the company profits while keeping loyal members and customers happy — especially with some of the forthcoming initiatives which cannot be divulged at this time.
Please stay tuned…
