Hilton @Play: Neon Trees and Elliot Root

was invited as a guest of the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program to see Neon Trees in concert earlier tonight in the International Ballroom at the Washington Hilton; and this concert was part of Hilton @Play, which resulted as a partnership where Hilton Worldwide became the official hotel partner and sponsor of Live Nation as part of a broad commitment with a duration of at least five years.

Also attending were Ric Garrido of Loyalty Traveler; Scott Mackenzie of Travel Codex; Jeff of Indulge the Wanderlust; and Keri Anderson of Heels First Travel.

After a reception for the attendees of the concert, we walked down the stairs into the International Ballroom; and the concert eventually started.

Neon Trees — or Elliot Root?

Most of us were puzzled: the members of the band looked nothing like Neon Trees — this is the official Internet web site of the band — but I was actually liking some of the songs that the band on stage was playing.

“This does not look like Neon Trees at all,” Ric Garrido said to me as Scott Mackenzie wandered off approximately thirty feet away in the crowd on his own. “It also does not sound like their music.”

Well, great. I took a lot of photographs of this band, thinking it was Neon Trees, which shows how much I know about music within the past few years. I used up all of that film for nothing?!?

Tree-Mendous

“This band is called Elliot Root,” bellowed Keri Anderson amidst the loud music emanating from the speakers. “That is not Neon Trees.”

I was stumped. “Wait a minute,” I barked. “Yew mean to tell me that we are first seeing Elliot Root; then we will see Neon Trees — and then we leave? That band is knot Neon Trees?” I then went out on a limb and asked “Perhaps we need to branch out here?!?”

Keri rolled her eyes. “Please don’t write a blog post like that.”

I then had a moment similar to that of Homer Simpson years ago where his brain tells him to use reverse psychology. “That is too difficult” said Homer. “Then don’t use reverse psychology”, to which Homer defiantly replies, “All right — I will!!!”

Thank you for the unintentional reverse psychology, Keri — or was it intentionally unintentional?!? Hmm…

Summary

…so here I am — having some fun while sapped of some energy and hoping that I maple this one off; and I willow you an article complete with photographs for which I hope you will pine pertaining to my experience in the future, if that is oakay with you.

If not, I hope that you do not harbor ill feelings towards me. After all, a guy has to have some fun sometimes…
