Due to a delay caused by a mechanical malfunction, alleged ineptness and reportedly unacceptable attitude by airline employees, and a downgrade from premium class to coach class, FlyerTalk member ryan182 now proclaims “My new mission: To be nothing but a cost center to UA”.

What are the details of what ruined the long weekend of an anticipated scuba diving in the Florida Keys, and just what does ryan182 intend to do to cost United Airlines money from now on?

On a side note, since the purchased ticket was in A fare class, was ryan182 really downgraded from premium class to economy class, or did ryan182 simply pay for a coach ticket that was automatically upgraded to first class, thereby not being entitled to compensation?
