“I Can Do This With My Eyes Closed…”
…is not always the answer to the question “How Do You Sleep on Domestic Redeyes?” as not everyone is able to sleep on an overnight flight — especially when one is a passenger in the economy class cabin.
FlyerTalk members offer their advice, experience and insight on how one can get some sleep on those overnight flights. For the very fortunate few, an empty row of seats — sometimes known as the “poor man’s first class” — can do the trick, as one can lie down instead of attempting to sleep sitting up. Add a few pillows and blankets, if they are available, and lift up those armrests, and one has a makeshift bed in which to sleep — something that cannot be done in the premium cabin unless there are lie-flat seats or seats which have a significant recline to them.
