Japan Airlines Suspension of Services Through April of 2016 on American and Guam Internet Web Sites

f you thought that four days for components of the official Internet web site of the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program to be unavailable was rather excessive, that pales in comparison to the news released from Japan Airlines, which announced that certain services at its official Internet web site for its American and Guam regions will be unavailable through as far into the future as late April of 2016.

I am unsure as to why certain components of the official Internet web site of Japan Airlines for its American and Guam regions will be unavailable through as far into the future as late April of 2016 and not sooner than that; but at least you will be able to use alternative methods of contact for such services as booking flight reservations, checking in for a flight and finding out information for flight schedules.

Of course, my mind immediately thought how bizarre would it be if they charged for such services via telephone while those Internet web site components were out of service…

Conspiracy theory: they are doing it to try and stop mass bookings of JAL awards with everyone trying to burn their AA stash. The timeline fits perfectly with the March completion date. Since you can’t search AA for award availability, US members would use the JAL site to search and then call AA to book. Now they must know you can search on BA or call the call center to search (who wants to do that). Why else would it only affect the US sites and match up exactly to the AA award chart change?

I had not thought of that, Ryan.

      Interesting…
