Pancakes for One Dollar While Helping Hungry Children — Today Only, Tuesday, August 23, 2016
F rom 7:00 in the morning through 7:00 in the evening today only, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at participating restaurant locations, the International House of Pancakes — also known as IHOP — is offering you a short stack of three Original Buttermilk Pancakes for one dollar…
Pancakes for One Dollar While Helping Hungry Children
Unlike the free pancakes usually offered every year on National Pancake Day, which has occurred every February since 2006 — such as this offer from earlier this year — you will not be faced with the potentially embarrassing request to donate funds, as you are already doing so with this offer when you pay your dollar.
IHOP has raised millions of dollars through initiatives such as this to support charities in the communities in which it operates. “One in five American children struggle with hunger, which can have serious long-term effects on their development and success,” said Darren Rebelez — who is the president of International House of Pancakes, LLC — according to this press release. “We are so proud to partner with No Kid Hungry to bring smiles to children’s faces as we fight to end childhood hunger.”
No Kid Hungry
The No Kid Hungry campaign by Share Our Strength — a national not-for-profit organization which began in the basement of a row house in 1984 — aims to end child hunger in America by ensuring that all children get the healthy food they need, every single day. No child should go hungry in the United States; but approximately 20 percent of children — that is greater than 16 million children — will face hunger this year.
Terms and Conditions
There is a limit of one offer per guest; and it is valid only for dining in at participating restaurant locations. It is not valid with any other coupons or discounts for today only. Taxes and gratuities are not included — and do not even think of leaving a tip of 15 cents in calculating 15 percent of that dollar you spend.
Another Way to Help
If you prefer not to participate in the promotion but still want to help, you can donate funds here. The goal last year was to raise $250,000.00; but the goal this year is to sell one million pancakes in one day to bring three million breakfasts for kids in need — meaning to quadruple the goal of last year and raise one million dollars.
As I mentioned in this recent article on one way to score free or discounted food or drink, you could have also helped benefit No Kid Hungry on National Lemonade Day this past Saturday, August 20, 2016 where you could have enjoyed some lemonade for 25 cents with the purchase of an entrée at any Ruby Tuesday restaurant location.
It is great to see large restaurant companies help feed hungry children.
Filling your stomach while saving money as you simultaneously donate to a good cause — that is a trifecta which is difficult to beat…
