A ward travel within Japan just became less expensive by 20 percent when using an American Airlines AAdvantage Reduced Mileage Award to redeem 20 percent fewer miles for travel valid between Monday, January 30, 2017 through Sunday, April 30, 2017.

The reduced mileage awards promotion is only valid on seats in the business class, first class or Main Cabin economy class travel for flights operated by Japan Airlines within the Japan region.

Discounted awards codes must be claimed between Monday, January 30, 2017 through Sunday, April 30, 2017; and travel must be completed by Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Due to a governmental ruling, awards for travel within Japan on Japan Airlines operated flights are only available for bookings reserved 60 days in advance — or fewer — of the travel date.

AAdvantage award inventory is subject to seat availability and capacity controls. Seats for award travel may not be available on all flights. Passenger is responsible for any and all applicable fees, service charges, surcharges or passenger facility charges and all insurance costs, federal, state, local and foreign taxes associated with the award travel.

Redemption of reduced mileage awards apply for bookings reserved via telephone through American Airlines reservations.

With regard to reservations and ticket changes, a $75.00 fee will be charged for award tickets booked fewer than 21 days before departure. This charge will be waived for AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, Platinum and Gold elite status level members using miles from their accounts.

At no time may AAdvantage mileage credit or travel awards be purchased, sold or bartered. Any such mileage or awards are void if transferred for cash or other considerations. Violators may be liable for damages, litigation and transaction costs. Use of award tickets that have been acquired by purchase or for any other consideration may result in the tickets being confiscated. If a trip has commenced, any continuing travel will be at the expense of the passenger on a full-fare basis.

Summary

If you plan on traveling within Japan as a member of the American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program over the next three months, you get to save 20 percent when you redeem your miles on award travel — which is not a bad deal at all.
