Review: Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport

After a long day of traveling to Oświęcim from Warsaw by train to visit Auchwitz before traveling on by train to Kraków — which I intend to impart my experiences in future trip reports — I was ready to relax in a comfortable hotel room. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport that evening.

I checked in at the front desk with no issue, as I arrived late in the evening — and the agents behind the front desk thankfully had everything already ready for me.

I took the elevator up to the floor on which my room was located.

I walked down the hallway to my room. The design of the carpet was a little dizzying.

The Room

When I walked into the room, I realized that this did not look like a typical Hilton Garden Inn hotel property in the United States or Canada. It was actually larger and more stylish…

…but it was still basically a typical hotel room. The bed was comfortable. The built-in nightstands had an alarm clock on one and a telephone on the other.

A coffee and tea station, a lamp and a flat-screen television rested on a long wooden dresser of sorts.

Two complementary bottles of water — one still and one fizzy — were on the left of the coffee and tea station, which included creamer and sweeteners.

Ample storage area was available below the flat-screen television.

Three electrical outlets were available at the desk area. The chair was adjustable and functional — as well as on wheels — but it was not very comfortable.

More ample space was available in the closet, which included an iron, ironing board, safe and plastic laundry bag.

The entrance to the bathroom is located near the entrance to the room across from a full-length mirror; and there was a chair, lamp and table located near the window.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was of an average size. A stylish bowl sink sat upon the countertop with the amenities, which included soap, shampoo, conditioner, body cream and body cleanser by Peter Thomas Roth.

The shower enclosure had that inexplicable European design of a partial shower partition — but it was not as bad as in the bathrooms of some other hotel rooms. There was no bathtub.

A heated towel rack hung on the wall near the entrance to the bathroom.

An image hanging on the wall above the toilet completed the decoration of the bathroom.

The hotel property is right at the airport located in front of Terminal 1 — thus, this view.

Breakfast

You can cook your own waffles with this waffle iron: simply pour the batter — which has already been measured — from the glass gravy boats on the left into the hot waffle iron. Although I liked the choice of five different flavors of syrup — including caramel, chocolate and strawberry — I would have liked to have had some fresh whipped cream available.

The area with hot foods included such items as scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausages.

A choice of traditional Polish pączki — which is similar to a doughnut — warmed croissants and other pastries were available.

Muffins, cakes and fresh breads — along with assorted toppings — were included at this station.

An assortment of salad items, fresh fruit and yogurt — as well as smoothies — were at this station.

This station had assorted meats and cheeses.

Cold sausages, assorted dry cereals, and toppings to add to the cereal — as well as milk — were available at this station.

The dining room was bright and clean but empty — save for an employee or two who were working that morning.

The food was very good; and I also enjoyed the grapefruit juice drink — although it did not taste like pure or fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. I also had orange juice, which was closer to the real thing.

I tried no fewer than four different syrups on my waffle — each quadrant devoted to a flavor of syrup.

Summary

I enjoyed breakfast in the morning, which was included in the room rate for me.

The location of this hotel property is incredibly convenient in terms of being right at the airport; but not so convenient if you want to be near the city center of Kraków itself. However, a train station is conveniently located next to the hotel property and underground; and the cost to get from the airport to the city center of Kraków one way is nine złotys — or approximately $2.27 in United States dollars. A return ticket costs 16 złotys.

I had no problems or issues with my stay, which cost me a total of 303.20 złoty — or $76.36 in United States dollars — including tax; and I recommend staying at this hotel property for a reasonably comfortable, quiet, clean and basic stay.
