Save 20 Percent on Hotels.com Gift Cards at Staples This Week

You can find this deal through the weekly advertisement of Staples; but you should be able to simply purchase one at a Staples location. The deal is a discount of ten dollars when you purchase a Hotels.com gift card worth $50.00.

You can supposedly buy as many of these gift cards as you like — but through separate visits to Staples locations and not all in one purchase — and you can redeem only one gift card per reservation booked through Hotels.com; but you can combined multiple different gift cards into one gift card prior to booking your reservation by contacting customer support at 1-888-999-4468.

No fees of any kind will be imposed on purchasers or recipients of Hotels.com gift cards. You may not return or cancel your Hotels.com gift card after it is received.

You should be able to not only use your credit card to receive either a cash rebate or frequent travel loyalty program miles or points — I will leave the good Doctor of Credit William Charles and his readers to sort through those details on that specific aspect of taking better advantage of this deal — but you should also use those gift cards towards these current promotions from Hotels.com to help potentially save you some more money, as discount codes may be applied to reservations booked and paid in advance at eligible hotel and resort properties:

For What the Gift Cards Cannot Be Used

Gift cards cannot be used for the following:

  1. Reservations paid at the hotel location or using the Pay Later option via the Internet
  2. Reservations booked via telephone
  3. Package bookings — for example, hotel + flight
  4. Reservations booked through Group Travel Services
  5. Reservations booked prior to receipt of the gift card

Select Terms and Conditions

Here are the terms and conditions as printed on the back of a Hotels.com gift card. Source: Hotels.com.

Hotels.com gift cards are issued by CARDCO CXXXIX, Inc., which is the sole obligor to the card owner. CARDCO may delegate its issuer obligations to an assignee, without recourse. If delegated, the assignee, and not CARDCO, will be sole obligor to the card owner.

Gift cards can only be redeemed here for reservations booked and paid in advance at eligible hotel and resort properties. If a purchase exceeds the balance, the difference must be paid with another payment method accepted by Hotels.com.

You may not use a gift card to purchase other gift card. Gift cards cannot be reloaded, resold, or transferred for cash. Unused gift card may not be transferred. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash — except where required by state law. Gift cards must be redeemed using the same currency as loaded on the card. Gift card currency may be confirmed by viewing the e-mail receipt for an e-gift card or the back panel of a plastic gift card. Discount codes with a discount in a specific currency — for example, ten Euro off — cannot be used for bookings paid for in a different currency.

Participating hotels are subject to change at any time.

If the discount is based on a percentage — for example, ten percent off — in case of booking of multiple rooms — for example, when you reserve two or more rooms in the same booking — the discount only applies to the price of the first room included in the booking request.

Only one discount code per reservation booked may be used; and cannot be sold or transferred.

All taxes, fees, charges, and surcharges are applicable to reservations made using discount codes. These charges must be paid at the time of the reservation or directly at the hotel and are you’re your responsibility. Discount codes have value only when redeemed in accordance with all terms and conditions of the offer. Discount codes cannot be returned for cash or its equivalent.

Single-use discount codes will be deemed fully used once a qualifying reservation has been made and will not be returned or replaced and there will be no refund if a discount codes is redeemed in part. Multiple-use discount codes will be deemed fully used in accordance with the restrictions set out in the individual discount codes terms and conditions.

If the travel stay dates are changed after the use of a discount codes, then that discount codes will not apply to the changed travel schedule. Discount codes may not be used for any previously purchased reservation.

Other restrictions, terms and conditions apply — including terms and conditions specific to gift cards.

Summary

I am currently planning an upcoming trip where I am thinking about booking reservations in hotel properties which are not part of an international multinational lodging company; so I might actually consider taking advantage of this offer…

…but before you consider taking advantage of this offer, please read this article pertaining to the five pitfalls of gift cards which can potentially cost you serious money — even though the chances of you encountering those pitfalls are usually rare.
