What is Wrong With This Photograph?

C ould someone please explain to me why Yahoo! decided to use the photograph shown above for their top story pertaining to which carrier in the United States won the top spot in 2014 for the annual ranking of best airline by airfarewatchdog.com?

By the way, that airline happens to be Delta Air Lines.

Please accept my apologies — but I had to express my disbelief at the use of the photograph above in 2014.

That is all…

What is wrong is that this photo shows that *current* liveries are DULL and BORING.

I think they update airline stock photos once per quarter-century. IIRC, a front-page story ran on FlyerTalk not too long ago with a photo of a Convair 880 (or similarly ancient airframe) as the cover photo.

The carriers of old are one thing. What’s more notable to me is that there are so many different carriers’ mainline aircraft lined up at the same terminal. I’m not sure what airport this is, but it is likely not a hub for any of these carriers. Can you think of one airport in the US where you would see half this sort of mix of mainline jets today all at once lined up at one terminal?

    Is that SNA?

I think this is SNA (Orange County). Used to fly America West there 3-4 times per month.

About par for the course with any Yahoo “news” article. What a joke. Have to agree with the results however.
