Summary

I did not know about the Go Out travel package room rate, which was apparently first introduced in April of 2013 — and Hilton offers additional information of interest to those people who are members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.

Hilton Worldwide has had no qualms in being open and welcoming to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, as evidenced by a controversial advertisement which included a photograph of two men in bed.

“Has anyone booked this rate and requested to not get the magazine/not gotten on mailing lists, or simply successfully gotten HHonors reservations people to just honor the offer of free wifi, free drinks, and late checkout, while matching the same rate — without signing on to the package?” FlyerTalk member Friendly Traveling Deathmerchant asked in this discussion pertaining to the special rate.

Although FlyerTalk member writerguyfl is correct in stating that “No one at the Front Desk is going to ask you questions about your sexuality”, keep in mind that you are not always going to automatically procure a better rate every time with this room rate option — rather, shop around and ensure that you purchase the room rate which offers you the best value for your money.

I don’t know why a front desk clerk wouldn’t bring up your sexuality when you check in. They are celebrating a sexual lifestyle with promos like this. Do they have a heterosexual version where they force you to check out early, make you pay for drinks, refuse internet service and give you a subscription to Playboy? Sounds silly to me.

While they’re obviously a private entity and can do what they want, where are the African-American, Asian-American, Native American, religious minorities, polygamist, other minority groups, etc. special rates? Why should someone’s sexual activity entitle them to a special rate? (I know Hilton’s honest answer would clearly be that they do whatever they can do to drum up business for their hotels.) Just seems to be getting silly.
