If you are a Diamond elite member of the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program and you are sick of sparse substandard sustenance supposedly offered as your welcome gift amenity at certain Hyatt hotel and resort properties around the world, FlyerTalk member kuponuts has some good news for you: Hyatt has reportedly been offering a choice of 1,000 bonus Gold Passport points or food and beverage across all international hotel properties — but this amenity has not yet been publicized because it is being offered on a trial basis first, and it is purportedly being phased in gradually.
Many FlyerTalk members are confirming similar experiences — and not only are are they happy about this new development which is currently unconfirmed, but they also seem to generally agree that Diamond elite status will become more valuable as well.
As a Diamond elite status member of the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program myself, I tend to agree.
FlyerTalk member derby44 is correct about the fact that the current food and beverage amenity is a “joke”, as Diamond elite members already have unlimited access to fruit and beverages in the lounge — if the hotel property has one on premises. Besides, I have found that the fruit is not always fresh — and because I do not particularly care for them, wine and cheese are wasted on me. If I want food and beverages, I will get them myself at the executive lounge or the Regency Club, take as much or as little as I want at my leisure, and not require someone from housekeeping to not only deliver the food and beverage to my room but also take away the empty plate if I enjoyed it — or the full untouched plate if I did not want it.
However, Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program points:

  • Do not spoil
  • Can be used by any member of the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program
  • Will not go to waste
  • Do not require anyone from housekeeping to provide it when they could be doing something better with their time
  • Do not require a plate and cutlery which would need to be washed

The reasons only support that this is a good move for the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program as it is for its Diamond elite status members.
If you enjoy the fruit and beverage amenity — and let’s face it, it is definitely welcome at hotel and resort properties who do it correctly and have it waiting for you after you have been traveling for 20 hours — you still have this choice available to you instead of an automatic amenity whether you like it or not.
This is a welcomed improvement to the Hyatt Gold Passport frequent guest loyalty program, in my opinion.
