2,500 Bonus Starpoints to Go Keyless — But…

ou can earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints to go keyless when you book your reservation and stay at one of the greater than 135 participating hotel properties equipped with SPG Keyless technology through Monday, February 29, 2016.

You must use the SPG Keyless technology during your stay — but you must first register for this offer with a valid Starwood Preferred Guest membership number sometime before Monday, February 29, 2016; and aside from the fact that this offer is only valid at participating hotels under the W, Aloft or Element brands, the limiting part of this promotion is that you must pay for your stay using a registered American Express Card.

Additionally, the SPG Keyless technology — for which you must first opt in to use — is accessed using one of the software application programs of Starwood Preferred Guest, which you must download for use on your portable electronic device.

The bonus of 2,500 bonus Starpoints — which will post to your account within two to four weeks after the qualifying stay posts — can only be earned once with a maximum of one room.

Terms and Conditions

Reservations booked prior to the promotion period are eligible for this offer; but only eligible stays consumed during the promotion period will receive the bonus.

An eligible stay is defined as a minimum of one night paying an eligible rate at a participating W, Aloft, or Element hotel property equipped with SPG Keyless technology. An eligible rate is any rate which is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program.

Other terms and conditions apply.

The last promotion back in July of 2015 which offered 1,000 bonus Starpoints for using the SPG Keyless technology — obviously not as much as 2,500 bonus Starpoints which you can earn during this current promotion — did not require an American Express card to earn those bonus Starpoints.

You can also earn 2,500 bonus points in the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program when you use the new “digital key” to access your hotel room; and although you do not need an American Express card to participate in that promotion — which has been extended through Thursday, December 31, 2015 — there are currently only 21 hotel properties in the world equipped with keyless technology at this time.

If the American Express card requirement was dropped, this promotion from Starwood Preferred Guest would be significantly better than the similar promotion from Hilton if you do not have an American Express card — if only due to the greater number of hotel properties which are eligible for the promotion.
