If you are not already attempting to earn or maintain elite status for next in a different hotel program with stays, this promotion can certainly be worth your attention, as you can earn an unlimited amount of gift cards during the promotion period — but I recommend you generally stay away from the lower-cost properties when attempting to earn the $50.00 gift cards.
For example, let’s say you wanted to stay in Kansas City later this month to qualify for a $50.00 gift card. Do not stay at the Econo Lodge Airport and Econo Lodge South properties, because even though they are roughly $38.00 per night, you must stay a minimum of two nights at each property, which will ultimately cost you $152.90 plus taxes and fees to earn that $50.00 gift card. Frankly, I shudder at the thought of staying at an Econo Lodge for even one night, let alone four — and it only includes continental breakfast at best. Instead, try the Sleep Inn Airport for $50.99 plus taxes and fees for one night and the Comfort Inn at $51.99 for the second night — that adds up to $102.98 plus taxes and fees for two fewer nights and almost $50.00 less money for that $50.00 gift card, and the rates at both of those properties include breakfast. For literally a few extra bucks, you can stay at a Quality Inn or a Clarion Hotel property instead if you seek a slightly upgraded experience.
