A Chance to Win One of Four Exciting Prizes — Including Flight Simulator Rides; a Remote Fishing Trip; a Ride in an Authentic Vintage Aircraft
The prizes for donating funds to help support the Jason Dahl Scholarship fund became even more interesting, as you have a chance to win one of the following four exciting prizes:
- “Fly” an Air Force F16 flight simulator
- Bring two guests to Houston and “fly” the Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” flight simulator
- A ride in an actual vintage T-6 class aircraft, which will be raced by Radial Velocity at the Reno Air Races next month
- All you will need is your passport and a sense of adventure to enjoy three days and two nights of a world-class yet remote fishing experience and additional activities at a secluded island in Rainy Lake, Ontario in Canada — and you get to eat what you catch
Radial Velocity races a vintage aircraft in the T-6 class at the Reno Air Races — scheduled from September 11 through September 15, 2013. Your donation could win you a ride in this aircraft at Creve Coeur Field — five miles from St. Louis Lambert Airport — on a date to be determined to the winner of a raffle, whose deadline for entry is Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 4:00 Pacific Daylight Time.
The goal this year is to exceed the $19,236.00 raised last year — which far exceeded the original goal of $10,000.00. To sweeten the deal and encourage participation, FlyerTalk member shcooper1 has committed to match the first $12,000.00 contributed for this year by contributing an additional $2,000.00 — meaning that when the donations reach $12,000.00, the total will automatically jump to $14,000.00. Will FlyerTalk members pull through again and push past this goal this year?
As an incentive, your chances of winning the ride increase along with the amount you donate. Last year, if you gave $25.00, you received one chance to win the prize. This year, that $25.00 buys you two chances — and the chances to win increase when you donate more funds, as shown below:
- $25.00 = 2 chances
- $50.00 = 5 chances
- $100.00 = 15 chances
- $200.00 = 40 chances
- $300.00 = 60 chances
- $400.00 = 80 chances
- $500.00 = 100 chances
In addition, the raffle is supporting a wonderful cause. Jason Dahl was at the controls as the captain of United Airlines flight 93 which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. His late wife Sandy launched a scholarship fund in his name which gives financial assistance to young men and women interested in an aviation career.
This is a meaningful way to commemorate the twelfth anniversary of one of the worst tragedies in American history.
