Add the Name of a Loved One to an Airplane: Stand Up to Cancer and Earn AAdvantage Miles 2019

Donate a minimum of $25.00 to Stand Up To Cancer through the Miles To Stand Up program of American Airlines and you will earn 10 AAdvantage miles for every dollar you donate.

Add the Name of a Loved One to an Airplane: Stand Up to Cancer and Earn AAdvantage Miles 2019

During the month of July of 2019, you may honor a loved one by adding his or her name onto the official American Airlines Stand Up To Cancer airplane when you donate a minimum of $25.00 to Stand Up To Cancer. The final design of the airplane — which is to be revealed later this year — will incorporate names included with these donations and signify that we can soar above cancer together.

If you want to enter more than one name, please repeat the donation process for each person. If you do not want to enter an honoree name and prefer to donate directly to Stand Up To Cancer, click here.

About Stand Up To Cancer

Bypassing the politics and red tape that often hamper medical research, Stand Up To Cancer is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research which will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. It assembles teams of experts from various fields, working toward the common goal of eliminating all cancer.

Rather than competing against other researchers to secure funding, research Dream Teams combine their expertise for greater advances than they would achieve individually. This approach is more efficient than traditional research models, and Stand Up To Cancer believes it is on the verge of major breakthroughs.

Stand Up To Cancer is a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Stand Up To Cancer Terms and Conditions

  • This offer is only valid on contributions donated here
  • A minimum donation $25.00 is required
  • The mileage cap for a 12-month period is 600,000 AAdvantage miles; and bonus AAdvantage miles do not count toward elite level status qualification
  • Please allow up to eight weeks for the reward miles to be posted to your AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program account
  • Donations can only be accepted in United States dollars
  • For charitable deduction purposes, each AAdvantage mile is valued at three cents per mile; and the receipt of AAdvantage miles may reduce the tax deductibility of your donation

American Airlines Miles of Hope

If you prefer donating AAdvantage miles instead of cash, you can donate AAdvantage miles to the American Airlines Miles of Hope program. Your generosity can touch thousands of lives and give hope to families — even in the face of disaster. The American Airlines Miles of Hope program works to benefit organizations that provide a strategic focus on children — as well as those who are afflicted by unexpected adversity.

Miles of Hope Donations Terms and Conditions

  • A minimum donation of 1,000 AAdvantage miles is required; but if the available balance in your account is fewer than 1,000 miles, you may donate their entire balance — which is a great way of clearing your account of orphaned miles
  • Your donation is not tax deductible
  • Processing can take up to 48 hours
  • American Airlines reserves the right to determine the final use of AAdvantage miles within the guidelines of the Miles For Kids In Need, Miles of Hope and Miles for All Who Serve programs

Cancer is a horrendous disease which can affect anyone. Tim Winship sadly succumbed to cancer last year. Your participation in this initiative could literally help make the difference between life and death for someone.

This offer is not nearly as good as the one two years ago through which you could have earned 25 AAdvantage miles for every dollar you donate; but that is not the most important aspect of this initiative, which is your chance to donate to a good cause — and earn some frequent flier loyalty program miles in the process.

can you donate $25 and get the miles AND name added to the aircraft…..or is it an either/or sort of thing?

    1. Brian Cohen says:

That is a good question, r m h. I saw no language that indicates that — unless I somehow missed it — so I would think that one donation of $25.00 will cover both; but I do not know for sure.

  2. r m h says:

    thanks brian!

what link would you recommend using to possibly and hopefully get the miles AND the name added to the craft? as i see it, there are currently two separate and distinct links.

I still have not yet received an answer, r m h.

Let me see what I can do…

This is the reply I finally received from American Airlines, r m h:

“We’re not sure about the specific information you’re requesting but you can find more information regarding the charity online here,”

I waited all this time for this non-helpful reply?

Let me see if I can find out some other way…
