Air Asia Has a BIG New Frequent Flier Loyalty Programme
There is good news if you fly often as a passenger on Air Asia: a new frequent flier loyalty program called BIG has been announced which is tied to a Visa credit card, its members are called BIG Shots, and its points are called “BIGGIES.”
However, unlike many other frequent traveler loyalty programs, there is a fee to join: pay ten Malaysian ringgit, which is currently slightly greater than $3.00 United States. Additionally, there is an annual fee of either 500 BIGGIES or five Malaysian ringgit, which is currently slightly greater than $1.50 United States — or, simply use the card at a minimum of six times per year.
Earn one BIGGIE per two Malaysian ringgit spent, which is currently slightly greater than $0.60 United States.
Air rewards start at 500 BIGGIES to travel to five destinations such as Singapore from Kuala Lumpur. Additional destinations are available for additional BIGGIES, such as 30,000 BIGGIES to travel to four destinations such as Melbourne and Tokyo from Kuala Lumpur. Rewards have no blackout dates, are good for any seat, and you can use cash to top off an air reward if there are not enough BIGGIES in your account.
Keep in mind that you will need to spend the equivalent of $13,712.00 United States to earn 30,000 BIGGIES.
