Air Australia Launches as Newest Australian Airline

The labour disputes with which Qantas Airways is currently experiencing may prove to be more detrimental than originally thought with the announcement that Air Australia launches today in Brisbane and that its first flight using an Airbus A330 aircraft is scheduled for departure on November 15, 2011.
Air Australia — whose name was changed from Strategic Airlines, which was primarily a charter airline — is a new budget airline which will serve both the domestic Australian market to places such as Melbourne and Darwin, as well as tourist “hot spots” within the region such as Phuket, Bali and Honolulu.
Air Australia is supposedly not attempting to entice passengers away from Jetstar or Qantas Airways, but rather offer passengers a different customer service experience.
