Alaska Airlines Award Sale February 2018: As Low as 5,000 Mileage Plan Miles One Way

…but you must purchase your ticket and book your reservation no later than Monday, February 19, 2018. Award seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or in all markets.

The class of service included in this promotion is the main economy class cabin only on flights which are operated and marketed by Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, Horizon Air, SkyWest, or PenAir.

Terms and Conditions

The indicated total purchase price — including miles, taxes, and fees — cannot be refunded once purchased. All taxes and fees — which start at $6.00 and are in United States dollars — are subject to change without notice.

Bag fees apply for checked baggage — which are waived for up to three bags when traveling entirely within the state of Alaska — and overweight or oversized items may incur additional fees. For bags checked in Canada, an additional value added tax fee from $2.15 Canadian dollars per bag may apply.

A ticket purchased at an airport location or through a reservation call center will be subject to an administrative fee of $15.00 per person. Applicable fare and tax differences apply to any changes made after ticketing. A change fee of $125.00 per person applies to changes which are implemented within 60 days of ticketed travel — unless you are traveling entirely within the state of Alaska.

Dollar amounts displayed include United States government taxes and fees and any foreign government taxes and fees — based on the current currency exchange rate and subject to change — and certain foreign government taxes and fees are collected at the foreign airport. Some markets may not operate daily service. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or all days. If nonstop service is offered during the advertised travel period, the advertised fare will only apply to those flights.

Other terms and conditions may apply.

Unlike the sales of some other airlines, I see no stipulation that the price to redeem Mileage Plan miles must be based on round-trip travel; which means that you should be able to book a one-way flight through this promotion — and that could lead to some flexibility in planning your travel and booking your flight reservations.

If you need to find out whether or not this sale is actually a good one for you to take advantage, Alaska Airlines still publishes award redemption charts with which you can compare redemption amounts — unlike certain other airlines which choose to ensure that the miles redemption process is opaque to customers and members of their frequent flier loyalty programs.

One Other Thing…

Alaska Airlines Uses Our Tag Line While Offering You 5,000 Mile Award Flights!” is the title of this article which was posted at Miles to Memories pertaining to this promotion; but just to have some fun and stir up a little trouble, I responded with this comment:

From the perspective of this view from the wing, Alaska Airlines used the phrase Miles INTO Memories; so out of the gate, they technically did not really steal your tagline.

Sometimes, one needs to take the points of life one mile at a time when running with miles. At times, you have been upgraded — and at other times, you have to point me to the plane.

The lesson of being a frequent miler is to be a loyalty traveler who does not take travel with granted — or, should I say, travel for granted — whether traveling in economy class & beyond…
