Answers to Past Articles — Part 2: Airport, Lounge Sign, Fish Sandwich, Bed Bugs, and Airplanes

In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article is the second of a series to do just that — along with links to the aforementioned articles…

Answers to Past Articles — Part 2: Airport, Lounge Sign, Fish Sandwich, Bed Bugs, and Airplanes

…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.

Also, a new feature has been added to this particular series of articles: the Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.

What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 1

Source: Yahoo! If the photographer who owns the rights to the photograph above would please come forward and let me know who you are, I will be more than happy to attribute a proper credit to your photograph…

Yahoo! used the photograph shown above in August of 2014 — although I am currently unable to find the link at the moment, as it was used in their list of links to attract readers. What was wrong with the photograph they used is that airlines which were no longer in service at that time include Continental Airlines, America West Airlines, Trans World Airlines, and Northwest Airlines…

…but that is not all that was wrong.

Favorite answer by Atif: “What is wrong is that this photo shows that *current* liveries are DULL and BORING.”

Favorite comment by Nybanker: “The carriers of old are one thing. What’s more notable to me is that there are so many different carriers’ mainline aircraft lined up at the same terminal. I’m not sure what airport this is, but it is likely not a hub for any of these carriers. Can you think of one airport in the US where you would see half this sort of mix of mainline jets today all at once lined up at one terminal?”

US Airways Club Sign
Photograph courtesy of Charles — also known as CMK10 from FlyerTalk.

Charles — whom I know personally and is also known as CMK10 from FlyerTalk — generously gave me permission to post this photograph of a sign for a US Airways Club lounge, as US Airways was still officially in business as of Monday, August 25, 2014.

Favorite answer by MagillaG: “Yes — it SHOULD say 6:30am. But is was obviously left up to muppets to arrange signage”

Favorite comment by ffi: “at least they planned for an over night party on Saturday”

What is Wrong With This Burger King Extra Long Fish Sandwich Image?

Long Fish Sandwich
Source: Burger King.

Burger King featured a product called the Extra Long Fish Sandwich back in the spring of 2016; but alas, not long after I asked what was wrong with the image, the fast food corporation stopped offering it. I suppose it was a limited time offering instead of a permanent addition to the official menu. You can decide as to whether or not that is unfortunate.

Although I do not eat the offerings from fast food restaurants very often, I tried one for lunch in March of 2016, as I do enjoy fish sandwiches. It was okay; but I would not exactly have called it “extra long”, as it was not as big as the name implies — although when compared to the Whaler, Big Fish and other past iterations of fish sandwiches offered by Burger King, I supposed that it was all relative.

This article was one of my favorites in the What is Wrong With This Photograph? series of articles, as I was practically in tears from laughing so hard at not only the blunders by someone in the marketing department at Burger King; but also the answers provided by readers of The Gate, as you spotted other things which were wrong of which I had not even thought.

Favorite answer by Tony: “I definitely prefer to be on top of a on a”

Favorite comment by Lu: “The napkin looks as long as the sandwich. Extra long napkin cannot be found at BK.”

What is Wrong With This Article About Bed Bugs?

When an article from Fox News appeared on Friday, January 20, 2017 pertaining to a woman who was attacked by bed bugs at a resort property in the Bahamas, one look at the photograph in the screen shot above had my head scratching — and no, I was not experiencing a bed bug attack at that moment.

Favorite answer by buzz: “yeah, Tyler is right, that the picture shows the Atlantis on the Palm in Dubai instead of the Bahamas one…”

Favorite comment by JJ: “Fox news story says January 2016”

Is There Something Wrong With This Photograph From Avis?

two airplanes flying in the sky
Source: Avis.

In February of 2019, you could rent a car from Avis one way from the airport to wherever you want to go — 150 free miles and a free tank of gasoline are included in the deal — starting at $9.99 for up to 12 hours, which is one dollar more than was originally offered back on Monday, November 6, 2017, as highlighted in this article which I wrote

…but then I looked at the photograph which accompanied the offer, as it is shown above.

Favorite answer by Clay Clayton: “Since both planes have their gear down, it appears that one is landing and the other taking off. Typically planes take off and land in the same direction, into the wind….not in opposite directions.

“Do I win a free first class trip somewhere? LOL”

Favorite comment by Amy E.: “Since when can I rent an airport from Avis? And for only $9.99? Sounds like a deal. The planes…however, definitely photoshopped. Look at the sun’s lighting…and shadows.”
