Answers to Past Articles — Part 6: Weird Map, Mask and Goggles, Deal of the Week, Bicycle on Hill, and Electrical Box

In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article is the fifth of a series to do just that — along with links to the aforementioned articles…

Answers to Past Articles — Part 6: Weird Map, Mask and Goggles, Deal of the Week, Bicycle on Hill, and Electrical Box

…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.

Also, a feature has recently been added to this particular series of articles: the Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.

What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 26

I found at least two things which seemed quite bizarre, as shown in the photograph above — and the Comments section of that article were more refreshing than the water in the bottle itself.

Favorite answer by TheyCallMeMacGyver: “Alaska always wanted to be directly connected to the lower 48 (bye bye Canada) not sure it wanted to get minitiarized though.”

Favorite comment by Mark Dumic: “Is that Africa off the coast of California and the East coast of the US? What happened to Europe and Asia?”

A friend of a friend of someone I know — who wishes to remain anonymous — was aboard an airplane operated by Delta Air Lines recently as she was returning to Atlanta from a ski trip in Montana; and she decided to take the photograph shown above here at The Gate.

If this is related to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the face mask and goggles will do virtually nothing to protect the female passenger who is wearing them — and once again, the Comments section of that article was incredibly creative and filled with great comments.

Favorite answer by Jeff: “She’s decked out in goggles and mask YET must clearly be comfortable touching the seat back…”

Favorite comment by Gary Steiger – FreeFrequentFlyerMiles.com: “Is that a life jacket the man is wearing?”

I saw the sign shown in the photograph above while I was on one of my long walks and thought that the hill looked a little — well — unstable and lopsided, to say the least.

Favorite answer by Rich: “The sign has been rotated 45 degrees clockwise from its correct orientation. It’s a yellow warning sign, so it should be in a diamond orientation (i.e., the diagonals of the square should be vertical and horizontal relative to the ground). That would give the triangle that represents the ground a base parallel to the ground.

“It would also make it mean ‘Look out! Downgrade’ rather than ‘Look out! Upgrade!’. But in fact it does look like there’s a downgrade ahead. You rarely have to warn cyclists that they’re going to start going up in any case.”

Favorite comment by John Maynes: “Runaway Bikes (going up-hill) – BEWARE!!”

What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 30: Coronavirus Edition

Supplies did not apparently last for this Deal of the Week during the 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Favorite answer by Jerry: “Deal of the week. When stores can’t seem to keep things in stock for hours much less a week. Maybe it should be ‘Deal of the Weak’”

Favorite comment by swag: “The hoarders even cleaned out the price tags.”

What is shown in the photograph shown above caught my eye during another one of my long walks recently.

Favorite answer by D.A.: “As to the photo, what is wrong with it, is that it should be having a squirrel or a snake or spiders living in it. Or an inquisitive kid putting their finger in it.

“Nothing is wrong with the electrical box, as it looks like it is not connected to any live circuit. It appears to be just a new utility electric meter box installed by an electrician, that is just waiting for the meter installation and “live wire” connections by the utility.

“Keep the safe-distancing questions coming!”

Favorite comment by Michael: “Halfway through the job the installer was told to ‘work from home’”
