As no fewer than four different types of award tickets exist based on distance, you will need to know how many miles your award trip will be in order to properly compare to the normal redemption rates on the official award chart of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan to see if you are really getting a good deal.

One example is a flight one way from Seattle to Indianapolis, which requires 7,500 Mileage Plan miles plus six dollars. Because that flight is greater than 2,101 miles and would normally require a minimum of 12,500 Mileage Plan miles, this is a good deal.
