That statement you just read has been recently amended back into the Best Rate Guaranteed with Hyatt — plus additional Internet web sites which offer lower rates are now allowed; so you have a better chance of having your claim approved.

Keep in mind that the additional percent off will only be applied to the guest room rate; and it is not valid on spa, restaurant, room service, in-hotel outlet charges, service charges, mandatory resort fees, gratuities, taxes, or incidental expenses.
Back in July of 2017, the policy of the Best Rate Guaranteed with Hyatt was modified to when if your claim was approved, Hyatt matched the comparable lower room rate — but it discontinued offering a further discount of 20 percent on the matched lower room rate. Instead — after your stay on the approved rate of the Best Rate Guaranteed — you received a credit of $50.00 in United States dollars or its equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence, which was to be used on a future stay that was completed within 12 months and booked on either a standard rate, advance purchase rate or member rate…
…but that previous reward of a discount of $50.00 on a future stay ended for any claim submitted today, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 and thereafter. Special offer codes for a discount of $50.00 on a future stay issued for past valid claims with the Best Rate Guarantee program of Hyatt are valid for one year from the date of issuance. You may still redeem this code as long as the date of checking out of the hotel or resort property is on or before the expiration date of your offer code.

Summary
Choice is king — and once again, you have a choice of how your claim is fulfilled by Hyatt. Once you have decided what you want, you cannot change your choice.
“The real test going forward though is whether “prepaid, but fully refundable” will be accepted against flexible again…” is what FlyerTalk member craigthemif posted. There will probably be some other “real tests” to verify that the Best Rate Guaranteed by Hyatt is truly an improvement.
