Daily Getaways Adjusts For Up to 82 Percent Hertz Devaluation
You will be able to save up to 78 percent on the purchase of points packages with Hertz through the Daily Getaways of Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1:00 in the afternoon Eastern Daylight Time — and you will have three different offers from which to choose:
- 7,500 Gold Plus Rewards points for $245.00 — a savings of 75 percent and enough for renting a vehicle for one week
- 20,000 Gold Plus Rewards points for $560.00 — a savings of 78 percent and enough for renting a vehicle from the Prestige Collection for one weekend
- 25,000 Gold Plus Rewards points for $698.00 — a savings of 78 percent and enough for renting a vehicle from the Prestige Collection for one week
Daily Getaways Adjusts For Up to 82 Percent Hertz Devaluation
The problem is that a massive devaluation occurred with the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program with no notice or advance warning earlier this week, with which the redemption of points towards vehicle rental rewards increased in cost by up to 81.82 percent — and the original offer was still intact until earlier today:
- 5,500 Gold Plus Rewards points for $280.00 — a savings of 75 percent and enough for renting a vehicle for one week
- 13,200 Gold Plus Rewards points for $560.00 — a savings of 78 percent and enough for renting a vehicle from the Prestige Collection for one weekend
- 16,500 Gold Plus Rewards points for $698.00 — a savings of 78 percent and enough for renting a vehicle from the Prestige Collection for one week
Summary
The devaluation of the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards frequent renter loyalty program was so badly mishandled that some members have been publicly vowing to never rent from Hertz again. This debacle is a textbook example of how not to implement a negative change to what is supposed to be a loyalty program.
After all, how is a person supposed to remain loyal if he or she does not even trust the company to do the right thing?
