Update: Digital Key Promotion of 2,500 Bonus Hilton HHonors Points Has Been Extended Through October 31, 2015

hrough Saturday, October 31, 2015, you can earn 2,500 bonus Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program points when you use the new “digital key” to access your hotel room — and although only 14 hotel properties are listed, I received an updated list from a source with Hilton Worldwide.

Additionally, accessibility of Digital Key through your portable electronic device has been expanded as well: as of Monday, October 5, 2015, Digital Key is now available for users of portable electronic devices operating on the Android operating system using the Hilton HHonors software application program — which is available here — and has been downloaded greater than 584,000 times this year alone.

There are now 21 hotel properties in the United States which are equipped for the use of Digital Key — listed alphabetically in order of state — and direct links to the specific hotel properties have been included for your convenience:

New Jersey

New York

I had originally called this promotion “most useless” because there was only one hotel property in the world which was participating in this promotion, which was to have expired on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 — but now that 20 additional hotel properties have been added around the United States; an Android version of the interface is now available; and the promotion had been extended through Saturday, October 31, 2015, this promotion is looking better and better.

Look for more hotel properties to be added to the list. Although I did not receive definitive information, I would not be surprised if this promotion was extended for yet another month — which should happen, in my opinion.

FlyerTalk members are participating in this discussion pertaining to this promotion. According to FlyerTalk members, Hilton Austin in Texas and Hilton Sacramento Arden West are also reportedly on the list of hotel properties which are now enabled with Digital Key technology; but I have not received official confirmation of that at this time.

I actually am at BWI and used the digital key to get into my room. One needs to check in first and pick a room. You don’t need to go to the desk to check in. Once you are close to your room, the app asks you to tap to unlock door. Pretty cool.
As an added side benefit, you can let room service in without having to get up. The app works when you are in the room too.
That was an easy 2,500 points.

I was not expecting someone to post his or her experience using Digital Key so soon, Putsmaskonfirst — but I am glad you did; and I am also glad to learn of your positive experience.

      Thank you.

I stayed at the Sac Arden West on Oct 17. Their digital key feature was purposely disabled, but they were happy to credit me the 2500 points.

Excellent that you received the bonus anyway despite Digital Key being purposely disabled, Scott.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have attempted to use this twice and will officially give up fro now. Not working at the Baltimore Convention center Pratt St location , was told I would still get my 2500 points as it was an internal issue; almost six weeks later and no points.
I did the online check in at 2 other properties and not worth it as the only rooms are the ones next to the elevator and or ice machine. Both properties told me do not check in online as the good rooms are held off the availability chart for “us” the frequent travelers.

I am hoping that my contact at Hilton Worldwide reads what you posted, Karen, and looks into it.

Please contact someone at Hilton HHonors and have them at least award you the points you earned. Perhaps they might consider throwing in a few extra as compensation for your inconvenience…

Thanks Brain for your reply. I did receive the earned points for my stay, its the digital bonus points that I haven’t received even after email and faxing over the request to the property. Oh well not really surprised as customer service was in short supply at this property. I will stick to the key card.
