Does This Billboard At Least “Thai” For Most Hilarious or Brilliant?

I have to admit that when I first saw the name Phuket, I initially questioned its pronunciation, wondering if it actually rhymed with a form of profanity one uses when either taking a chance and going for broke — or deciding that something was not worth the trouble altogether.
Apparently I was not the only one, as illustrated by this billboard:

The way I have heard people pronounce Phuket is basically “poo-KET” — but why let that stand in the way of what could be a good joke as part of an advertising campaign?
That is the main reason why I personally would not call this billboard genius, brilliant or hilarious. I suppose it is funnier if you are still unsure of how exactly to pronounce Phuket.

Incidentally, I have traveled from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket as a passenger on Air Asia a few years ago — and I must say that the flight departed and arrived on time; the personnel were pleasant and friendly; the aircraft was clean and not crowded; and I had no problems with baggage even though I technically probably should have been charged a fee for the bag I was carrying.
Food was available for purchase on this flight. I did not eat. While the prices were higher than what I would typically pay, they were not in the realm of unreasonable.

All in all, traveling as a passenger on Air Asia was a pleasant yet uneventful experience which I would recommend — in this case, boring was just fine with me.
I would also recommend going to Phuket as well. I typically do not write trip reports, but please let me know if you would like for me to write one about Phuket. I will also attempt to answer any questions you might have about Phuket.

If only the trip could be routed via FUK but that would be extremely unlikely though not impossible.

Yes, Air Asia is a great airline. Much better than the LCCs in the West. As for Phuket it used to be agreat destination 15 -20 years ago. Can’t say the same for today.

This billboard has been around for quite awhile. And yes, Phuket is kinda like Daytona Beach here in the USA, except with hookers and tons of Australians.
