Double Points: Amtrak Double Days Promotion Returns Again
Register now for the Double Days promotion by Amtrak Guest Rewards and earn double points on qualfying travel on Amtrak trains in the United States from March 17, 2014 through May 17, 2014 — which seems to be a regular event in the spring and autumn, as this promotion is virtually identical to the most recent promotion last year.
This promotion also has a history of being extended — the most recent promotion was extended by 22 days last November — so although you should not automatically expect it, do not be surprised if this promotion is extended to at least the end of May this year.
Registration is required, and you must be a member of Amtrak Guest Rewards to participate in this promotion. There is a limit of two qualifying one-way trips per day. Registration is retroactive to the start of the promotion. Terms and conditions apply.
As I posted in September of 2012, you might find that Amtrak may be a reasonable and viable alternative to travel with this promotion — as opposed to travel by airplane, bus or automobile. Think about it: no dealing with the Transportation Security Administration at airport security checkpoints, and no worrying about staying awake while you drive.
With all of the recent perceived devaluations which seem to be “plaguing” frequent flier loyalty programs, is now the time to try traveling on Amtrak trains if you have not already done so?
