Earn 20 AAdvantage Miles Per Dollar Donated For Breast Cancer Research 2016
You can earn 20 AAdvantage miles per dollar donated for breast cancer research 2016 through Monday, October 31, 2016 via Susan G. Komen through the Miles for the Cure program — which raises funds to support breast cancer research — from American Airlines as part of the annual Be Pink campaign.
“This year, Komen is setting a bold goal to reduce breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in 10 years by, among other things, enhancing their focus on research to cure these forms of breast cancer and metastatic disease”, according to the content posted on the official Internet web site of American Airlines Giving for this year. “Finding a cure for breast cancer is especially important to us. Each year, more American employees are affected by breast cancer than any other cancer. As the most common form of cancer among women, it is estimated that nearly a quarter of a million people will be diagnosed with it in 2016.”
Since its partnership with Susan G. Komen began in 1983, American Airlines — which is the first-ever Lifetime Promise Partner of Susan G. Komen — has helped to raise greater than $33 million.

The Story of Maureen Smith
Women who are diagnosed early with breast cancer have a survival rate of 99 percent — but even when detection is delayed, there is still hope.
Maureen Smith — who is a customer service agent with American Airlines at Philadelphia International Airport — was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002. Extensive chemotherapy and radiation therapies initially seemed to improve her condition; but her cancer metastasized into her spine and liver in 2004. With the support of her friends and family, she underwent chemotherapy and radiation a second time.
“I am always happy to talk about my journey so women know that even if your cancer has metastasized, you can still go on living a normal and happy life,” Maureen said. She still receives weekly treatments; but she has a positive prognosis and outlook. “I can happily say that I have not had a reoccurrence in 12 years.”
