Earn 20 AAdvantage Miles Per Dollar Donated For Breast Cancer Research 2018

You can earn 20 AAdvantage miles per dollar donated for breast cancer research 2018 through Wednesday, October 31, 2018 via Susan G. Komen through the Miles for the Cure program — which raises funds to support breast cancer research — from American Airlines as part of the annual Be Pink campaign.

The minimum donation is $25.00; and you can earn up to maximum of 600,000 AAdvantage miles during a period of twelve months.

Since its partnership with Susan G. Komen began in 1983, American Airlines — which is the first-ever Lifetime Promise Partner of Susan G. Komen — has helped to raise greater than $35 million.

The collective minimum donation of $1,486,800.00 dollars raised by American Airlines from 2016 through 2018 fund the Susan G. Komen Young Investigators Grant program, where researchers are making advances against metastatic breast cancer and triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease.

Women who are diagnosed early with breast cancer have a survival rate of 99 percent — but even when detection is delayed, there is still hope.

Other Initiatives to Fight Breast Cancer

In addition to earning AAdvantage miles simply by donating funds, there are five other initiatives — some of which you can participate.

  • Through Miles of Hope, a minimum donation of 1,000 AAdvantage miles is required. Members who have an available balance of fewer than 1,000 miles may donate their entire balance. In this case, your donation is not tax deductible. Processing can take up to 48 hours.
  • Team members who are survivors of breast cancer will be prominently featured on aa.com, on our flight and gate information display screens, in our Admirals Clubs and more at airports around the world.
  • Pink will play a prominent role in flight. Customers will notice that everything from beverage napkins to the inflight menu, amenity kits, Wi-Fi portal and more have gone pink for the month of October.
  • For the first time ever, customers can donate directly to Komen while in flight.
  • Team members around the world are purchasing and wearing American-branded pink items with 30 percent of the proceeds from every sale benefiting the organization.

“For charitable deduction purposes, each AAdvantage mile is valued at three cents.” Does this mean I would only be able to claim a $0.40 as a charitable contribution for every dollar donated or does this only apply when donating miles?
