Earn 500 Bonus SkyMiles by Shopping for Back to School 2018: Encore

If you missed the first Delta Air Lines SkyMiles Back to School bonus campaign last month, you are in luck: effective through Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 11:59:59 in the evening Eastern Daylight Time, you can earn 500 bonus Delta Air Lines SkyMiles — in addition to the standard SkyMiles earned — during the Back to School Bonus campaign at the SkyMiles Shopping portal by spending a minimum of $150.00 for shopping for qualifying purchases on your favorite products from hundreds of participating retailers.

Earn 500 Bonus SkyMiles by Shopping for Back to School 2018: Encore

You can only earn the bonus of 500 SkyMiles once, as the maximum number of bonus award points that will be awarded to an eligible SkyMiles Shopping account through the Back to School campaign is 500 bonus award miles.

Bonus SkyMiles will be issued based on your cumulative qualifying purchases made during the bonus period. Returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products are not included in the bonus award SkyMiles eligibility calculation.

Please allow up to ten weeks after the conclusion of the bonus period for the bonus award SkyMiles to post to your SkyMiles Shopping account. This offer cannot be combined with other offers or promotions.

Other terms and conditions may apply.

“Repeating the same exact promotion twice within two months is unusual. Perhaps the shopping portals of other airlines will follow suit with similar encore promotions?”

I wrote that statement in this article pertaining to a similar Back to School sale with the American Airlines AAdvantage shopping portal, and that is exactly what happened with the Delta Air Lines SkyMiles shopping portal; but the Back to School sales of other airline shopping portals — including Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, United Airlines MileagePlus and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan — are still in effect if you want to take advantage of them. Keep in mind that each Back to School sale has a different expiration date, with the one from the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan shopping portal ending later today.

Be aware that the adding of SkyMiles to your account as a result of participating in this promotion can take as many as ten weeks; but if that happens after the expiration date of the miles in your account, take consolation of knowing that the date of the transaction is typically what counts and not when the transaction is approved. You may need to take the time to send reminders to the administrators of a shopping portal if your miles or points do not post; and if that is not worth your time or effort, you might want to reconsider participating in one of these promotions…

…but if you intend to spend money shopping anyway before the promotion ends, you may as well earn SkyMiles in the process.
