Select Terms and Conditions

A valid Etihad Guest membership account number is required to successfully perform the conversion, which cannot be reversed once the miles transfer request has been initiated.

Other terms and conditions — including those of the Etihad Guest frequent flier loyalty program and governing the existing conversion partners — apply, including:

  • Non-participation points conversion partners: Flybuys Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Starwood and Citibank ROW are excluded from this promotion
  • The Etihad Guest member will be responsible for quoting the correct Etihad Guest membership number to the participating conversion partners for the conversion activity.
  • The promotion is applicable for any member who converts their points from a qualifying Partner loyalty programme to Etihad Guest Miles. The eligibility of the bonus miles for a specific member will be done based on the validity of the promotion and the date of conversion provided by the partner for that respective member.
  • Base Etihad Guest Miles converted by the member will be awarded as per the applicable conversion ratios of each respective partner
  • Bonus Etihad Guest Miles earned during this promotion will reflect in the member’s Etihad Guest membership account within 15 days of the end date of the promotion
  • If an Etihad Guest member holds credit cards and/or Hotel loyalty programme cards of different banks and hotels and converts the rewards points to Etihad Guest Miles under this promotion, then the number of Bonus Guest Miles he/she will earn will reflect separately in the members account for each partner
  • Bonus Etihad Guest Miles will not be calculated on a retroactive basis under any circumstances — for example, credit card/ hotel reward points converted to Etihad Guest Miles and posted into the membership account during the promotion period but for which the conversion request was placed outside the promotion period will not qualify for the bonus miles promotion.
  • Participation under this promotion is purely voluntary for the members.
  • This offer cannot be clubbed with any other conversion offer.

I have had as many as 42,000 Etihad Guest miles in my membership account — but they were either not enough to use for an award ticket; or nothing was available when I tried to use them for an award with a partner, which was frustrating. I had to call a customer service representative via telephone to attempt to redeem them for award tickets on a partner airline because the redemption cannot be done via the Internet. “No” was an answer I heard all too often when attempting to redeem them.

Although exchanging them for Amazon gift cards is certainly not considered the best use of Etihad Guest miles, it is at least one of a number of flexible options with which you can redeem them easily enough.

In my opinion, frequent guest loyalty program points are worth more for redemptions at hotel and resort properties than they are for Etihad Guest miles — even with the bonus of 20 percent, in many cases.

Unless you are really vested in the Etihad Guest frequent flier loyalty program — and perhaps have some orphaned points which you cannot use for any other award but have enough to convert to Etihad Guest miles — I personally would not advise taking advantage of this offer.
