Summary
You can earn or redeem Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles for traveling to greater than 800 destinations worldwide via 15 partner airlines; and this promotion provides an incentive to do so.
Even better is that no limitation of how many Mileage Plan miles you can earn through this promotion appears in its terms and conditions; so you can potentially earn hundreds of thousands of Mileage Plan miles if you plan on traveling globally between North America and elsewhere frequently via the 15 global airline partners.

American Airlines flights apparently don’t count for this Alaska Air MileagePlan promotion.
That is correct, GUWonder, because American Airlines is one of three domestic partner airlines and not one of the 15 global partner airlines of Alaska Airlines, around which this promotion is centered…
…and if you’re scratching your head wondering as to why Alaska Airlines inexplicably listed their three domestic partner airlines in this promotion, you are not the only one…
The terms at the bottom of the promo page spell out which airlines are eligible for this offer – and none of the domestic ones are. Also, AA is really cutting their ties with Alaska when this promotion goes live anyway.
