Extended: Your Chance to Win One of Many Prizes When You Purchase Raffle Tickets for a Good Cause

L ast month, I introduced you to the story of Gretchen — who lost her life to cancer at only 33 years of age — in this article. Gretchen is the daughter of Jane Mitchell, who is currently a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines; and in honor of her daughter, a team which will participate in the Delta Jet Drag on Friday, May 5, 2017 is named Gretchen’s Gazelles. They are focused on raising a total of $85,000.00 — a rather lofty goal; but they already raised $48,682.10 as of today with 58 days remaining.

Mylee and Olivia Raise Funds and Donate Hair For Cancer Patients

Meet Mylee — who is eight years old and the daughter of Gretchen — and Olivia, who is seven years of age. These two adorable granddaughters of Jane Mitchell not only have they joined the Gretchen’s Gazelles team to raise money for the American Cancer Society; but each of them has also pledged to donate eight inches of their hair to be used for wigs which cancer patients receive free of charge thanks to KeepGrowing, which is another team participating in the Relay for Life initiative in the Delta Jet Drag.

Founded by Roxanne Reagin — who is a current employee of Delta Air Lines — the KeepGrowing team is still looking for members who would like to grow out their hair to be donated for wigs; and you are not required to be an employee of Delta Air Lines to participate. Please contact KeepGrowing@delta.com for additional details.

I am not involved in the event this year; but I promised a good friend — one who is well known, liked and respected in the Delta Air Lines | SkyMiles forum on FlyerTalk — who is participating in the Delta Jet Drag this year that I would spread the word about the cause which he and his team are supporting.

Delta Air Lines has partnered with the American Cancer Society for at least 15 years; and that partnership has included what has become a legendary annual event: the Delta Jet Drag, which was memorable for me.

If you do decide to purchase raffle tickets, I hope that you win one of the prizes — and thank you in advance.

Meanwhile, Mylee and Olivia would be so appreciative if you would please support their efforts in the fight against cancer by donating to Relay for Life here.
