…but you must be an active member of the Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles frequent flier loyalty program in order to qualify for this program — and registration for this promotion is not required in order to participate.

This promotion was extended not only for members of the HawaiianMiles program who have already earned elite status and will be able to keep it through 2022; but also to give members a chance to earn elite status for the first time or a chance to earn a higher tier of elite status.

To qualify for Pualani elite status in the Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles frequent flier loyalty program:

Elite status with Hawaiian Airlines includes — but is not limited to, depending on the tier — the following benefits:

  • Two checked bags for you and companions on the same reservation
  • Priority boarding
  • Complimentary upgrades to Extra Comfort or Preferred Seats based on availability, route, and aircraft type
  • Bonus miles on base miles earned on a revenue ticket
  • Access to preferred seating and dedicated customer service telephone lines
  • Priority security line

Platinum Upgrade Certificates for Member Year 2021

Members who have earned Pualani Platinum elite status receive upgrade certificates which can be redeemed for complimentary one-way upgrades to first class on flights within North America or business class on International flights. Upgrade certificates are now available for members to use in 2021 and are valid through Monday, February 28, 2022.

2021 Pualani Platinum members who achieved elite qualifications in 2020:

The amount of certificates required for one complimentary one-way upgrade is based on the number of flight miles earned in coach class, listed on the mileage chart.

  • One certificate can be redeemed for one complimentary upgrade to First/Business class on a one-way flight between Hawaii and any Hawaiian Airlines destination that is less than or equal to 3,500 flight miles
  • Two certificates can be redeemed for one complimentary upgrade to First/Business class on a one-way flight between Hawaii and any Hawaiian Airlines destination that is greater than 3,500 flight miles

How to redeem your Platinum upgrade certificates:

  • 30 days prior to flight departure up until 72 hours prior to departure
  • Requests to redeem certificates can be made online or by telephone. Login to My Trips and click on “Upgrade” or call the Pualani Reservation Line at 1-800-367-5320
  • If your upgrade is successful, you will be notified by e-mail message as early as 24-hours before your flight. Please note that requests are processed 72 hours prior to departure

Mileage for qualifying flights must be credited to the HawaiianMiles account of the member. Not valid on free or award travel. The bonus elite-qualifying miles awarded as part of this promotion count toward elite status qualification only, are non-redeemable, and cannot be used toward award travel.

Summary

Hawaiian Airlines is the latest airline to reduce the requirements for members of its frequent flier loyalty program to earn elite status for the following year.
