…but you must be an active member of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan frequent flier loyalty program in order to qualify for this program — and registration for this promotion is not required in order to participate.

This promotion was extended not only for members of the Mileage Plan program who have already earned elite status and will be able to keep it through 2021; but also to give members a chance to earn elite status for the first time or a chance to earn a higher tier of elite status.

An official announcement from Alaska Airlines was first released on Monday, June 1, 2020; but the offer was originally supposed to conclude on Thursday, December 31, 2020. It has now been extended for another six months.

To qualify for elite status in the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan frequent flier loyalty program:

Earning Qualification For Elite Status
MVP Gold
MVP Gold 75K
Elite Qualifying Miles or Segments
20,000 elite qualifying miles or 30 flight segments 40,000 elite qualifying miles or 60 flight segments 75,000 elite qualifying miles or 90 flight segments
Minimum Segments on Alaska Airlines Two flight segments
Four flight segments Six flight segments

Elite status with Alaska Airlines includes — but is not limited to, depending on the tier — the following benefits:

  • Two checked bags for you and companions on the same reservation
  • Priority boarding
  • Complimentary upgrades when available — except when booking a Saver fare in X class of service
  • Bonus miles on base miles earned
  • Access to preferred seating and dedicated customer service phone lines

Select Terms and Conditions

Mileage for qualifying flights must be credited to the Mileage Plan account of the member. Not valid on free or award travel. The bonus elite-qualifying miles awarded as part of this promotion count toward elite status qualification only, are non-redeemable, and cannot be used toward award travel.

Status extension does not apply to guests in the middle of a status challenge offer. Status challenge must be completed to keep status after the 90 day challenge period.

Other terms and conditions — including those of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan frequent flier loyalty program — apply.

Remember that if you earn elite status now with Alaska Airlines, you can take advantage of expanded reciprocal benefits with American Airlines as the result of an expanded partnership — as well as with other airlines which are members of the oneworld alliance, as Alaska Airlines has announced its intention to join oneworld alliance as early as Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Do you know if the Fast track , double elite miles count towards a status match / Challenge? I was granted MVP Gold 75 Today because of my Delta Diamond Status. I know “status extension” does not count if your in a challenge but I see no verbiage that says the double miles promo doesn’t count.

    I need 20k miles by 3/30 , so can I just get 10,000?

    Does anyone know?
