As a comparison, here is a complete list of the rewards for which you can redeem your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards frequent renter loyalty program points if the destination of your car rental is in the United States:
Silly me, thinking that perhaps fewer Gold Plus Rewards points would be required for at least one award redemption. However — to the credit of Hertz Gold Plus Rewards — at least the redemption rates have not increased in years.
Imagine redeeming 200 Gold Plus Rewards points for a discount of only five dollars. The only situation in which I would imagine considering redeeming that award is if I had 200 Gold Plus Rewards points in my account which were about to expire.
550 Gold Plus Rewards points are required for a standard reward of a free weekend day of renting a car; so if 500 Gold Plus Rewards points is good for a discount of $20.00 and 600 Gold Plus Rewards points is good for a discount of $30.00, then is 550 points worth $25.00?
The aforementioned e-mail message stated that “For a limited time, you can use Gold Plus Rewards points to pay for part of your rental.” How limited is that time was never defined or clarified, but that does not really matter anyway: with the exception of a deal anomaly, snow will fall in Florida in July by the time I would seriously consider using one of the discount awards.
