Jan Lisiecki — also known as FlyerTalk member jlisi984 — has been nominated for the 2013 Juno Award for classical album of the year: large ensemble or soloist with large ensemble accompaniment with his first album titled Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 20 & 21.
At the tender age of 17, Lisiecki is the youngest person to be nominated for a Juno Award in 2013 — even younger than fellow nominees Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen — and other fellow nominees include Nickelback and Rush, as well as Céline Dion, Michael Bublé, Nellie Furtado, Diana Krall and Leonard Cohen.
By the way, Leonard and I are not related — at least, not to my knowledge.
The Juno Awards — presented annually since 1970 by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize outstanding achievement by Canadian musical artists and bands — will occur at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 21, 2013 if you wish to purchase tickets to be there to support Lisiecki. Read more about Jan Lisiecki at The Gate, where he was first profiled back on November 16, 2011.
Congratulations, Jan — and FlyerTalk members are rooting for you to win your first Juno Award!
