Highlights of National Cheeseburger Day 2016: Delta Air Lines to Offer Shake Shack Cheeseburgers and Other News
S unday, September 18, 2016 is National Cheeseburger Day 2016 — there are a number of theories as to how exactly the cheeseburger came into existence which have not been proven, verified or even agreed upon universally — and there are some highlights about which you might want to know, as they could save you money.
Cheeseburgers — Compliments of Delta Air Lines
Flight attendants of Delta Air Lines will serve complimentary ShackBurgers from Shake Shack — Delta Air Lines is a partner of Union Square Hospitality Group, which is the parent company of Shake Shack — to customers seated in the Delta One premium class cabin aboard airplanes which will operate on select flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Los Angeles International Airport on National Cheeseburger Day.
Additionally, all customers flying as passengers on the aforementioned flights from New York to Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18, 2016 will receive a voucher good for a complimentary ShackBurger at the Los Angeles location of Shake Shack.
Triple Triple Challenge at Wayback Burgers
Cheeseburger aficionados — especially Alexander Bachuwa of The Points of Life and Michael W. of Michael W Travels… — will be interested in this challenge offered by Wayback Burgers. The restaurant chain is offering $3,330.00 to the person who can eat the Triple Triple Burger — which comprises of nine beef patties topped with nine slices of cheese, lettuce and tomato — in the shortest amount of time nationwide to become the…er…Triple Triple Chompion of the Triple Triple Challenge.
Although reservations for the Triple Triple Challenge have now ended, if you still wish to compete, you may contact a location of Wayback Burgers to find out if that location will be accepting walk-ins on the day of the Triple Triple Challenge. If so, then complete the form once you have arrived to the restaurant, purchase the Triple Triple Burger, and eat as fast as you can.
The cost of the Triple Triple Burger is the responsibility of the contestant. Sorry, Alexander — and yes, I know all too well of your dislike and disdain for tomatoes from this now-legendary article in which you lost a similar challenge because of those nefarious tomatoes…
Free Cheeseburger at Ruby Tuesday With Purchase of Adult Entrée — But…
Ruby Tuesday will be offering a free cheeseburger — up to a maximum value of ten dollars — with the purchase of an adult entrée on Sunday, September 18, 2016 — but you must be a member of the Ruby Tuesday SoConnected program by Saturday, September 17, 2016 in order to receive the special coupon offer.
If you do not like cheese on your hamburgers, this offer appears to be good for any hamburger up to a value of ten dollars.
Although I rarely dine at Ruby Tuesday, if you do decide to take advantage of this offer, my personal recommendation is to go for the Triple Prime Burger. You can substitute the fries with onion rings at no additional charge; and you should be able to add cheese to it, if you like.

Five Dollar Double Cheeseburgers at Burgerfi
While not a free offer, you can get double cheeseburgers for five dollars at all locations of Burgerfi on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
There are plenty of deals being offered by other dining establishments — for example, free dessert or free fries with the order of a cheeseburger — but they are too numerous to list here; and besides, I attempted to find the most significant deals pertaining to National Cheeseburger Day.
Please peruse this article if you want to find out about other “food holidays” on which you might be able to find discounts or free food offerings from dining establishments.
In the meantime, I have yet to decide as to how I am going to “celebrate” National Cheeseburger Day — but I can assure you one thing: it will not be by eating a cheeseburger, as I dislike cheese on my food…
