How to Add Spoilers to FlyerTalk and InsideFlyer

Y ou would like to post content to the forums of FlyerTalk or InsideFlyer; but you might want some or all of the content to be hidden for whatever reason — perhaps to save space with a feature which is both expandable and collapsible.

The feature is known as a spoiler; and although it has been around for years, members of FlyerTalk or InsideFlyer rarely use it — even though it is really easy to use.

Although FlyerTalk is powered by the vBulletin bulletin board software and InsideFlyer is powered by the Xenforo bulletin board software, the process is basically the same — but there are differences.

Here is step one for adding spoilers to the discussions posted in the forums of both FlyerTalk and InsideFlyer, as the rest of the steps will begin with number 2:

 1.
All you have to do is put some text or images — or both — between these two tags.
Whether you add or edit content to a discussion in FlyerTalk…

 1. You can preview your content prior to posting; but when the content is posted, the default for the spoiler is to hide the content and display a Show button.

 1. Click on the Show button to see the hidden content; and the Show button automatically becomes a Hide button. This functionality is available to anyone who reads discussions on FlyerTalk.

How to Add Spoilers to InsideFlyer

The process is similar for whether you add or edit content to a discussion in the forums of InsideFlyer, but you also have the option of selecting the sixth button from the right at the top and choosing Spoiler from the pop-up menu…

That is all…

…unless you want to also customize the content of the spoiler button itself for the forums of InsideFlyer, which you can do.

All you have to do is add an equal sign plus the text you want in the opening Spoiler tag. In this case — as you can see in the above image — I added:
All you have to do is put some text or images — or both — between these two tags.
When the content is posted, the default for the spoiler is to hide the content and now display a This can be customized to your liking. (Open) button.

Click on the This can be customized to your liking. (Open) button to see the hidden content; and the This can be customized to your liking. (Open) button automatically becomes a This can be customized to your liking. (Closed) button. This functionality is available to anyone who reads discussions posted on the forums of InsideFlyer.

Summary

You can add more than one spoiler to the content you post on FlyerTalk — even to a WikiPost — as well as to the forums of InsideFlyer.

Hopefully, this feature will be of use to you when posting content on either the forums of FlyerTalk or InsideFlyer.
