In Memoriam: 1000k00

“I used a friends account to fund my booking for ZA trip. I may have to cancel due to medical reasons, trip in OCT.. When the miles are redeposited will they go to my account or be returned to my friends account? Taxes that were paid? Just want to be prepared ahead of time.”

What you just read was what FlyerTalk member 1000k00 posted in the American Airlines | AAdvantage forum on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:53 in the morning Eastern Daylight Time — and that became the last time he posted on FlyerTalk.

In Memoriam: 1000k00

Although 1000k00 — whose real name is John — received plenty of assistance from fellow members of FlyerTalk, he unfortunately never took his trip in October of 2018, as FlyerTalk member dhammer53 had announced the sad news that he passed away sometime during the summer of 2018:

I recently found out that my friend 1000k00 passed away this summer. He didn’t post frequently, but was an old timer on Flyertalk. I met John on a UA transcon many moons ago. He saw my luggage tag as I was placing my luggage in the overhead bin. He lived on Long Island. We broke bread several times over the years. He was a good guy. Locals may remember Kathi in the old UA JFK RCC. They were pals from the same neighborhood. She always had a smile for me when I mentioned John’s name.

I know that he’s flying internationally upfront. RIP my friend.

Summary

I did not know 1000k00 personally nor have I ever met him or communicated with him; but the loss of a FlyerTalk member is still sad for me. I really dislike having to mourn yet another fellow frequent flier.

Any other information pertaining to 1000k00 — such as funeral services or an Internet web site pertaining to remembering details about his life — had been unavailable to me at the time this article was written. I tried to wait until I found out more information before posting this article; but that never happened. I intend to edit and amend this article if any new information becomes available so that he may be properly remembered with a more fitting tribute.

In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of 1000k00. May he rest in peace…
