In Memoriam: ldsant

Almost two years have passed since the last time FlyerTalk member ldsant posted any content on FlyerTalk — the last time she posted was in the OMNI forum on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 — but the last word of advice she gave on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:13 in the morning Eastern Daylight Time was “Would definitely recommend Aloft PHX airport. Staff is great. They also have a shuttle that will take you within 3 miles of the hotel. The Sheraton downtown PHX is my second choice. Nice rooms. As others have said though, if you want to make the trip out to Scottsdale then there are more options.”

In Memoriam: ldsant

Fittingly, that word of advice was posted in the Starwood | Starwood Preferred Guest forum, of which she was once one of the members of the moderator team. She had also earned lifetime Platinum elite level status in the Starwood Preferred Guest program.

Elizabeth Israel — which is the real name of ldsant; but she was more popularly known simply as Liz — lost her life after spending a week in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Seattle. “She was cremated and there will be a private service for her near her parents’ home in Florida”, posted FlyerTalk member iluv2fly. “Liz was a unique person to say the least. Quirky and odd (in a good way) and I shared many trips and experiences with her in Chicago, Paris, Las Vegas, New York and at several Mod Do’s in the past decade. It took a special effort to be friends with her, but it was certainly worth it. She was a very caring individual who adored her niece and nephew — the loves of her life.”

FlyerTalk member tom911 posted that Liz was “Most certainly a fun person to be around and I’m going to miss her. She had a unique sense of humor that sort of grew on you over time.”

The last time ldsant logged onto FlyerTalk prior to to passing away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 was Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 9:26 in the evening Eastern Standard Time.

Summary

The news of the passing of Elizabeth Israel came as a shock to me, as I had no idea that anything was wrong with her health.

The loss of a FlyerTalk member is always sad for me, as I really dislike having to mourn another of our brethren — but I have met Liz a number of times; and she was indeed “quirky and odd in a good way” and “had a unique sense of humor”. Liz apparently did not like photographs of herself, as the photograph in her LinkedIn profile is of the Space Needle in Seattle — and I had not been able to secure a photograph of her to place at the top of this article at this time.

Liz also had a good heart, as she tried to be available to those people whom she considered her good friends, colleagues and acquaintances. For example, Liz contacted me several years ago to ask if I could improve a presentation containing 350 slides for the company at which she was employed at that time, to which I replied that I would. I was grateful that she thought of me and considered me for the project.

Any other information pertaining to ldsant — such as an Internet web site pertaining to remembering details about her life — is unavailable to me at the time this article was written. I intend to edit and amend this article if any new information is available to me so that she can be properly remembered with a more fitting tribute.

In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of Elizabeth Israel, who will always be remembered by members of the frequent flier community. May she rest in peace.
