In Memoriam: thadocta

V ale Dave Proctor — known as thadocta on FlyerTalk and David in “real life” — has passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the age of 49 after being found deceased in his house in Katoomba and is currently being remembered on FlyerTalk.

The cause of death is not yet known; and a date and time for a service honoring him is still being arranged at this time.

In Memoriam: thadocta

David Proctor — who is the eldest son of Stella Proctor — first posted as thadocta as a new member of FlyerTalk on Tuesday, May 8, 2001.

The last time Dave posted on FlyerTalk was on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 12:57 in the afternoon Eastern Daylight Time; or 3:57 in the morning on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Katoomba, which is the main city located in the Blue Mountains almost 70 miles west of Sydney — and his sense of humor shines clearly through the content he posted on FlyerTalk for the final time:

Oh come on, you’ve been around for long enough to know that we NEVER use the words “enhanced” and “enhancement” on this site in relation to a positive change.

His signature also epitomized his sense of humor: “There are three types of people, those that can count, and those that can’t.”

FlyerTalk member QF WP posted about not seeing “…him in a couple of years, but he was meant to come to an FT Do in February but pulled out at the last moment. He always spoke his mind and will be missed on the BA and QF Forums in particular (and GLBST).”

I did not know Dave personally nor have I ever met him or communicated with him; but the loss of a FlyerTalk member is still sad for me. I really dislike having to mourn another of our brethren.

If I receive any further information, I intend to add it to this article…

…but right now, I am honoring the memory of thadocta and mourning his untimely loss, as 49 is too young an age at which to die; and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and his loved ones.

Rest in peace, Dave.
