Job Offer: Travel the World For a Year For The New York Times

You love to travel and enjoy it so much that you are willing to pay to do it — that is a likely conclusion to assume if you are reading The Gate — but how would you like to get paid to travel for one year?

Job Offer: Travel the World For a Year For The New York Times

The New York Times annually recommends 52 Places to Go, which pertains to “one place to dream about exploring each week. The list is an ambitious forecast of which beaches will remain unspoiled, which starchitect-designed museums will live up to their renderings and which culinary treasures are worth hopping a flight to eat.”

For 2018, The New York Times is seeking at least one ambitious traveler to become a correspondent who will travel to every destination on that list and turn it into an itinerary by telling the story of each place and the story of life on the road — and that person could be you if you meet the following qualifications:

  • Has traveled to several destinations
  • Have documented travel in writing, social media or elsewhere
  • Is active on social media and has expertise with it
  • Media experience is required
  • Is fluent in English; and familiarity with languages beyond English is a plus — though it is not a requirement
  • Has prior experience at a magazine, publishing company, newspaper, digital publication, film or other media organization
  • Can use digital devices with ease
  • Can commit to a full year
