July: Changes in Le Club Accorhotels and Kimpton Programs
When FlyerTalk members learned that changes are coming to the frequent guest loyalty programs of both Le Club Accorhotels and Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants Group, the word devaluation can tend to come to mind — but not all of the details for at least one of those programs have been revealed as of yet.
For FlyerTalk members of the Le Club Accorhotels frequent guest loyalty program, among the changes which will reportedly be in effect as of today at 4:00 in the afternoon Paris time are as follows:
For every ten Euros which are spent:
- Classic members will earn 25 points Increased from 20 points
- Silver elite status level members will earn 31 points Increased from 30 points
- Gold elite status level members will earn 37 points Increased from 35 points
- Platinum elite status level members will earn 44 points Increased from 40 points
Not only have the rates of earning Le Club Accorhotels frequent guest loyalty program points increased; but the rates of redeeming them — as well as the requirements to achieve elite level status — remain unchanged.
Additionally, hotel properties in Australia which previously have not participated in the Le Club Accorhotels frequent guest loyalty program will join it on July 1, 2014. Those hotel properties with lounges will offer lounge access to Platinum elite level status members. The exact list is still to be determined.
Ibis hotel properties in France will now participate fully in the Le Club Accorhotels frequent guest loyalty program throughout the week — previously, those hotel properties only participated for stays during the weekend — meaning you will be able to earn and redeem points seven days per week.
As for FlyerTalk members of the In Touch by Kimpton frequent guest loyalty program, among the changes to be “unveiled within the next couple of weeks” — meaning that they will be in effect sometime during July — are as follows:
- A new, interactive loyalty program with additional elite status level tiers and fun perks — although Inner Circle will still be the highest tier
- A “sleek, re-imagined” Internet web site and booking experience which will be “smart and tailored for all your devices”
- A new weblog where you will “find Kimpton news and inspiration for your daily lives”
Although FlyerTalk members are grateful for the advance notice of the upcoming changes, many of them are understandably hesitant to embrace them — especially after what has been perceived to be a “stealth devaluation” of the Inner Circle tier as reported on June 13, 2014. “We think you’re going to like what you see in July”, assured FlyerTalk member and official company representative KimptonInTouch — also known as Susan McDowell, who is the Member Communications Manager, Loyalty Marketing for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “That’s all I can say right now!”
It initially appears as though the changes planned for both frequent guest loyalty programs seem to be positive overall; but of course, time will tell — and so will FlyerTalk members…
