Kimpton 10,000 IHG Rewards Club Bonus Points Added to Accelerate Promotion — For Me, Anyway…

In addition to the tasks which I can complete to earn up to 43,000 total bonus IHG Rewards Club points through the Accelerate Winter 2018 offer targeted specifically for me — which is now 42,000 points, as I missed the bonus offer of 1,000 points for January — I also received an offer to receive 10,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points if I stay at a Kimpton hotel or resort property at any time through April 30, 2018.

Kimpton 10,000 IHG Rewards Club Bonus Points Added to Accelerate Promotion — For Me, Anyway…

This is the text from the e-mail message which I received from IHG Rewards Club:

It’s Go Time

Dear Brian,

IHG® Rewards Club and Accelerate just got even better! With Kimpton® Hotels in the family, you now have another exciting, one-of-a-kind way to stay and earn points.

As part of Accelerate, you’ll receive 10,000 bonus points with your next Kimpton stay anytime from now until April 30th. That’s on top of the 42,000 points you can already earn with Accelerate.

Explore our newest brand and the experiences awaiting you. With Accelerate and Kimpton Hotels, your dream trip could be just around the corner.

Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions have been copied verbatim from that aforementioned e-mail message:

Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register your member number in advance to participate in this Offer (“Registration”). Number of bonus points listed above will be awarded after your Qualifying Stay at any Kimpton® hotel, which must be completed between 1 February 2018 and 30 April 2018. A Stay is defined per IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out (“Stay”). For purpose of this Offer under this Promotion a Stay constitutes a “Qualifying Stay” which include most business and leisure rates. IHG®Rewards Club is responsible for fulfilment of the bonus points offer. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for the bonus points to be posted into your account. The number of bonus points listed above will not count toward “Your Achievement Bonus offer”. This Offer is subject to the General Promotion Terms and standard IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions and earning structure, which can be obtained by visiting www.ihgrewardsclub.com. IHG reserves the right to remove a member’s bonus points or cancel a member’s account if fraudulent use of the Offer is detected. To the extent permitted by applicable law, IHG® Rewards Club reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Promotion/Offer at any time with or without notice. To the extent permitted by applicable law, IHG reserves the right of final interpretation of this Offer.

Summary

I understand that this offer may be targeted; but I would think that the decision makers at InterContinental Hotels Group would be attempting to spread the word about customers staying at the hotel and resort properties of their latest acquisition. One example is the current Kimpton Hotels Winter Getaway 2018 promotion through which you can save up to 30 percent off of room rates at 64 different hotel and resort properties; so if the Kimpton bonus is part of your custom Accelerate offer, that means you can save money while simultaneously scoring 10,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points.

Also, the Kimpton Karma Rewards frequent guest loyalty program ceased to exist in January of 2018, as you can now book Kimpton hotel award nights with IHG Rewards Club points effective as of Monday, January 1, 2018.

Check your e-mail messages — or log into your IHG Rewards Club membership account to your Accelerate promotion opportunities and tasks — to find out if you qualify for this offer; or some variation of it.

I must admit that this offer is tempting…

    Brian,
Does anyone know if this promotion actually works?
Has anyone booked a Kimpton hotel and received 10,000 points for one stay?
Is this in addition to the 5,000 point per stay bonus (up to 10,000 points)?
    Both expire April 30. Thanks
    Steve T

I have not participated in this particular promotion, Steve T; but I cannot imagine that you would not receive the 10,000 points bonus.

Also, there is nothing in the language of the terms and conditions of this offer that suggests that it cannot be stacked with other offers; so if the terms and conditions of the other offer lacks the same verbiage, you should be good to go and earn points in both promotions.

If you decide to go for it, please check back in and let me know the results…

The promotion dubbed “Wake up to 10,000 bonus points” initially FAILS. I stayed at a Kimpton (exact hotel names omitted) in Washington DC two times on April 21 and April 29, 2018. I paid full price for the rooms with no discount rates and even paid more (higher rate) for the 5,000 IHG point bonus package both times, thinking I would score about 15,000 points per stay (30,000 total). I was rewarded with ZERO (0) points for the entire stays. Exact wording says “Non-Qualifying Stay”. I am reaching out to IHG (their e-mail is answered in the phillipines at night) for an answer. IHG is a failure as a normal expectation (value and return are diminished always). Sometimes MORE is LESS, and with IHG it’s zip, nada, zilch, ZERO! They get you to stay more than you want to, spend more than you planned, dangle the carrots, then wait till the promotion expires and disappears, knowing its too late to prove, sort out, have hard-copies as evidence, and actually get the rewards to automatically post as promised thru the SHADY pre-marketing coups. It’s very clear Kimpton did not want to pay into this promotion to gain the additional revenues for IHG’s selling for their brand. The worst part is I actually really enjoyed my stays at Kimpton! If I do not receive ALL of my points as LURED and PROMISED then I will abandon Kimpton and under utilize IHG for future stays.
