Sometimes you need an infusion of miles or points to your membership account for whatever reason — perhaps to have enough to redeem for a limited time award as one example — and the best time to purchase miles or points is when they are on sale.
Miles and Points On Sale — March 24 2022
A sale may be a discount on the price required to purchase miles or points — or perhaps the frequent travel loyalty program from whom you are buying the miles or points will match your purchase up to 100 percent, which is another way of reducing the cost of miles or points.
Offers to purchase miles and points are not usually highlighted in their own articles here at The Gate. Rather, they are compiled in articles such as this one — typically whenever a new sale is announced or an old sale expires — so that you can shop for miles and points from different frequent travel loyalty programs conveniently in one spot and compare the sales to what you want or need.
Note that you may get a different offer from some of the frequent travel loyalty programs than what are posted in this article.

Hilton Honors: 45 Percent Discount
You can receive a discount of 45 percent on any purchase of a minimum of 5,000 Hilton Honors points — up to a maximum limit of 160,000 Hilton Honors points for $880.00, which is $0.0055 per point when factoring in the discount — but you have until the end of the day on Friday, May 6, 2022 to take advantage of this offer.
Marriott Bonvoy: Up to 50 Percent Bonus Points
You can buy or gift a minimum of 2,000 Marriott Bonvoy points — up to a maximum total of 100,000 points — and get bonus of up to 50 percent more points through Sunday, April 3, 2022 as follows:
- Buy 2,000 to 9,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 40 percent bonus Marriott Bonvoy points
- Buy 10,000 to 39,000 Marriott Bonvoy points = 45 percent bonus Marriott Bonvoy points

Radisson Rewards Americas: Up to 50 Percent Bonus Points
You only have until Thursday, March 31, 2022 to take advantage of receiving a bonus of 50 percent on any purchase of a minimum of 1,000 Radisson Rewards points — up to a maximum limit of 80,000 Radisson Rewards points for $560.00, which does not include the bonus points — as follows:
- Buy 1,000 to 3,999 Radisson Rewards points = 25 percent bonus Radisson Rewards points
- Buy 4,000 to 8,999 Radisson Rewards points = 35 percent bonus Radisson Rewards points

Wyndham Rewards: 40 Percent Bonus Points

American Airlines AAdvantage: Up to 35 Percent Discount
You can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 150,000 AAdvantage miles in order to receive a discount of up to 35 percent — for a cost of $3,668.44 for 150,000 miles — through the end of the day on Thursday, March 31, 2022 as follows:
- Buy or gift 3,000 to 4,000 AAdvantage miles = 10 percent discount
- Buy or gift 5,000 to 9,000 AAdvantage miles = 15 percent discount
- Buy or gift 10,000 to 24,000 AAdvantage miles = 20 percent discount
- Buy or gift 25,000 to 149,000 AAdvantage miles = 25 percent discount

British Airways Executive Club: 50 Percent Bonus Avios
Until the end of the day today, Thursday, March 24, 2022, you can purchase a minimum of 2,000 Avios up to a maximum of 200,000 Avios and receive a bonus of up to 50 percent Avios — or receive up to 300,000 total Avios
Finnair Plus: Up to 40 Percent Bonus Discount
You can purchase Finnair Plus points — up to a maximum of 200,000 Finnair Plus points — in order to receive a discount of up to 40 percent through tomorrow, Friday, March 25, 2022 as follows:
- Buy 10,000 to 29,000 Finnair Plus points = 10 percent discount
- Buy 30,000 to 59,000 Finnair Plus points = 20 percent discount
- Buy 60,000 to 99,000 Finnair Plus points = 30 percent discount
- Buy 100,000 to 200,000 Finnair Plus points = 40 percent discount
Etihad Airways Etihad Guest: Up to 20 Percent Discount
Until Sunday, March 27, 2022, you can purchase a minimum of 4,000 Etihad Guest miles and receive a discount of up to 20 percent with Etihad Airways:
- Buy 5,000 to 19,000 Etihad Guest miles and receive a 10 percent discount
- Buy 20,000 to 39,000 Etihad Guest miles and receive a 15 percent discount
- Buy 40,000 to 100,000 Etihad Guest miles and receive a 20 percent discount
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards: Up to 40 Percent Discount
Until Tuesday, April 5, 2022, purchase a minimum of 3,000 Rapid Rewards points and receive a bonus of up to 75 percent bonus Rapid Rewards points as follows:
- Buy or gift 3,000 to 9,000 Rapid Rewards points = 30 percent discount
- Buy or gift 10,000 to 14,000 Rapid Rewards points = 35 percent discount
- Buy or gift a minimum of 15,000 Rapid Rewards points = 40 percent discount
Final Boarding Call
Remember that each frequent travel loyalty program has partners through which you can redeem miles or points; so you are not confined just to the product offered by an airline or lodging company.
Also be sure to read the terms and conditions of each other. Typically, all sales are final: once you have purchased your miles or points through these sales, you cannot return your points; and your money cannot be refunded.
I am not an advocate of purchasing miles or points; but I have done so on rare occasions — and if you need to do so from the aforementioned frequent travel loyalty programs, now is the right time.
