News For Your Virgin Ears

There are two separate developments to report pertaining to two separate Virgin airlines.
First, the partnership between the Virgin Atlantic Airways flying club and Continental Airlines OnePass frequent flier loyalty programs will end effective February 13, 2012.
The second development is the news that Virgin America passengers can enjoy some Philadelphia Freedom, as Virgin America has announced service between Philadelphia and both Los Angeles and San Francisco starting on April 4, 2012. Book by the end of the day today, January 20, 2012 to secure a special promotional airfare of either $129.00 or $149.00 each way, not including taxes and fees.
FlyerTalk members who are members of the United Airlines MileagePlus frequent flier loyalty program wonder and opine about Virgin America coming to PHL in April. How will UA respond?
For your listening pleasure in honor of the new service announced by Virgin America, I present to you Philadephia Freedom by Elton John — and although both the song and the Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album were released in 1975, Philadelphia Freedom was not originally on that album.
