Pancakes for One Dollar — Today Only, Tuesday, August 25, 2015

rom 7:00 in the morning through 7:00 in the evening today only, Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at participating restaurant locations as part of the Summer of Smiles celebration, the International House of Pancakes — also known as IHOP — is offering you a short stack of three Original Buttermilk Pancakes for one dollar; and 50 cents of the proceeds will go to No Kid Hungry, which will supposedly provide one child with five meals.

Unlike the free pancakes usually offered every year on National Pancake Day, which has occurred every February since 2006 — such as this offer from 2010 — you will not be faced with the potentially embarrassing request to donate funds, as you are already doing so with this offer when you pay your dollar.

IHOP has raised millions of dollars through initiatives such as this to support charities in the communities in which it operates. “One in five American children struggle with hunger, which can have serious long-term effects on their development and success,” said Darren Rebelez — who is the president of International House of Pancakes, LLC — according to this press release. “We are so proud to partner with No Kid Hungry to bring smiles to children’s faces as we fight to end childhood hunger.”

The No Kid Hungry campaign by Share Our Strength — a national not-for-profit organization which began in the basement of a row house in 1984 — aims to end child hunger in America by ensuring that all children get the healthy food they need, every single day. No child should go hungry in the United States; but approximately 20 percent of children will face hunger this year.

There is a limit of one offer per guest; and it is valid only for dining in at participating restaurant locations. It is not valid with any other coupons or discounts for today only. Taxes and gratuities are not included — and do not even think of leaving a tip of 15 cents in calculating 15 percent of that dollar you spend.

If you prefer not to participate in the promotion but still want to help, you can donate funds here. The goal is to raise $250,000.00.

If you still hunger for pancakes later on in the evening and plan on staying at a hotel, you may want to consider staying at a participating Holiday Inn Express hotel property, as there is still a currently active promotion of free pancakes from 8:00 in the evening through midnight through the end of August…
